Silver City is the home to the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. It all began back in the 1870’s; it was a silver mining town. No mines found enough silver to make any money, and eventually they closed. The city was originally named after its founder, Daniel Beaser but was later changed to Silver City.
