Mohawk is an old mining community with a population of a little over 1400 people located on US-2 in Keweenaw County in the Keweenaw Peninsula. It is the Keweenaw County’s largest town. Snow removal is a major priority of local government. Mohawk is named after the site of the Mohawk Mine of the Wolverine – Mohawk Mining Company.
