Whether you are a novice or pro snowmobiler, visiting the Upper Peninsula during the winter is a MUST! Snowmobilers converge on the U.P. every winter do to the massive amounts of snow, over 200 inches in some areas, and because the entire U.P caters to snowmobilers and snowmobiles. You will find snowmobile friendly hotels which are located either directly on the trails or have made access trails to the main trails all of the Upper Peninsula. There are some things that should be done before coming to Michigan. You will need to purchase a Michigan trail permit which can be done online and you will want to find a snowmobile friendly hotel to stay at. In the winter there are normally more snowmobiles in the hotel parking lots than there are cars. If you don’t have a sled or a trailer you can also rent one from area businesses.
